Frustrated with my thesis paper, I decided to empty my head. \u00a0I’ve been researching conceptual projects and tree sculpting, but I couldn’t find the answers I sought. \u00a0Maybe the answers are in the questions.<\/p>\n
Would you still buy something if you knew it could be grown?<\/p>\n
If you knew that you<\/em> could grow it? \u00a0What would you grow? \u00a0A chair? \u00a0A bicycle? \u00a0 A house? \u00a0And how long would you wait for it to grow? \u00a0Would you wait six months for a table? \u00a0How about a year? \u00a0 Would you wait longer if it were to the proportions of your choosing? \u00a0What is the relationship to that length of time and that which it would take you to earn the money to simply purchase it? \u00a0Is there something you would wait for to grow, but never purchase?<\/p>\n Let’s take this a step further. \u00a0What if you could design a product and have a machine grow it for you? \u00a0 Would you wait for it to grow if it required less attention? \u00a0Would you buy such an apparatus? \u00a0How much would you spend on such an apparatus? \u00a0 Would you buy multiple apparatuses to grow more at once? \u00a0Would you buy items you were capable of growing in the interest of saving time? \u00a0 Would your items’ value be based on the length of time they took to grow? \u00a0By how closely they resemble the initial plan? \u00a0Would they lose value if your hand were visible in its shape?<\/p>\n How would you design your objects? \u00a0Would you rather wield greater control or allow for innacuracies in your product? \u00a0Do these inaccuracies affect its value?<\/p>\n Once your piece grew to its intended size, would you harvest it? \u00a0Would you grow it inside or out? \u00a0Would you worry someone would reap your product? \u00a0Is there a specific piece you would keep alive? \u00a0Would you take the time to maintain it? \u00a0Would you let it grow to the ceiling? \u00a0 Would you let it grow thick with leaves and branches? \u00a0Would you meticulously prune and primp?<\/p>\n If you were moving out, would you take the extra care to safely pack it? Would you give it away? \u00a0Would you throw it out? \u00a0Would you mulch it? \u00a0Would you plant it into the ground? \u00a0Would you take it to a forest? \u00a0How much of your current furniture would you take with you if you had to move? \u00a0Would you take more if you could change it’s dimensions? \u00a0 What if you could add or remove features?<\/p>\n Q: “This is all great, but I don’t know how to use a CAD (computer aided design) program .”<\/p>\n A: Fear not, the world is changing.
