Asthma Inhaler-
Originally modelling the classic ‘ventolin’ inhaler – a common and usually disposable dispenser that has remained largely unchanged for decades. Asthma is an increasingly common medical condition, about 1 in 12 people (about 25 million) have asthma in the United States. As asthma becomes more common, I was curious how this design could be enhanced to better serve users. I considered a number of avenues; kids, sports, marketing, tech integration – and being an Asthma sufferer myself, tried to address a problem that caters to all – custody. Forever lost, these inhalers – which are essentially life lines – are often found misplaced. Giving the ability to attach the inhaler, be it during a game of sport, a child’s school bag or simply keeping it in the same spot when unused – makes the user more conscious of their Asthma, it’s treatment and how they identify with the illness.
