Self-Portrait – Henry Lam
Using Grasshopper’s Quokka plugin, I grabbed a set of points from a Kinect of my head and upper torso, and baked it. I then selected the points I wanted for my head and face, and created a Delaunay mesh which I then ran through Cytoskeleton. The first picture that is very angular is from the MeshfromPoints Rhino plugin.
I used Weaverbird’s triangle loop functions and smoothing functions to thicken and round out the mesh. I selected only part of my face in order to fit the piece more easily onto the print bed.
I prepped the .stl in Meshmixer by removing extra portions, making it solid, and building the supports for it.
