391,000 Brooklynites commute to Manhattan each day. Last year, I used to live off the J\/M\/Z trains and so everyday I would travel from Brooklyn to Manhattan\u2026. since they were above ground trains, it meant that I would get to see the manhattan skyline each morning.<\/p>\n
This year, I moved to downtown brooklyn, and now take the A\/C trains\u2026 which are underground. This also means I don\u2019t get to see the manhattan skyline everyday. I started to reminisce how although just a short couple of minutes, being able to see the skyline everyday was kinda neat… especially for someone who sits in front of her computer screen all day. And although this sounds cheesy\u2026 whether subconsciously or not, being able to see the skyline every morning reminded me that I was part of this amazing city, and gave me a sense of belonging to something bigger than myself. I would loove to hear other peoples’ take on this…\u00a0and for my final project, I\u00a0want to do qualitative research on this, and gather\u00a0qualitative data on how other people feel about this. I will ask a bunch of questions, but will focus on \u201cfeelings\u201d and \u201cemotions\u201d as a direct result of being able to see the skyline on the bk-to-manhattan commute.<\/p>\n
With the qualitative data, I would like to create\/match the feelings\/emotions with colors. I will then associate certain colors with certain subway lines, and ultimately create different colors for different train lines based on my findings. \u00a0And then use all that stuff to create some crazy light visualisation as a result.
